Boston Sports Update for August 21, 2009

It has been a good week in sports for Boston fans starting with the Red Sox recent sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays. It was a great series to watch because the Boston bats have been getting hot of late, most notably slugger David Ortiz. The Red Sox action will make for a great weekend with the Evil Empire in town for a 3 game series starting tonight at 7:10 EST.

The New England Patriots played their second pre-season game last night and Mr. Patriot Tom Brady saw little action in the game as expected. It was a great sign however to see Wes Welker back on the field and in action since he was out game 1 with an undisclosed injury. Wes had a great 32 yard catch and run during the game which was needed as Tom Brady had very little protection from his line which was a VERY bad sign. It seemed like every play Brady had a hand in his face and this worries me because especially this year in coming back from an injury Brady needs protection badly. On a side note Chad Ochocinco kicking the extra point and the kickoff was awesome and I was very surprised on how well he did, he looked very much like a kicker in the NFL.

The Lacrosse world is a buzz for this weekend where it is the Outdoor Lacrosse Championship week this Saturday and Sunday. The Boston Cannons are the last team in (4th seed) but are looking to upset everyone behind the 2009 Bud Light MVP Paul Rabil (midfielder) he was also this year’s recipient of the Warrior Offensive Player of the Year. He is the first Boston Cannon to win the MVP award since2004 when Connor Gill won the award. I will have more on the results from this weekend’s action on a Monday article that will be posted on FanRates.com.
